Weekly Workout Rewind - 7/8/2007

I was still trying to get back into my workout routine after the 4th of July Holiday break. I managed 2 weightlifting sessions, 3 cardio sessions, and I mowed the lawn one afternoon.

Weekly Workout Rewind - 7/1/2007

The July 4th holiday on Wednesday threw my workout schedule way off. My brother was in town visiting at my mother's house, so I say them on July 4th, and the weekend after. I only managed two weightlifting sessions, two cardio sessions, and I mowed the lawn one afternoon.

Weekly Workout Rewinds - June 2007

I apologize for being out of touch, so here are my Weekly Workout Rewind Updates for June 2007:

6/3/2007 – worked out all body parts over 4 days, 4 cardio sessions, and on Saturday, mowed the lawn and hand washed my car. A productive week.

6/10/2007 – completed 3 weightlifting sessions, missed working my biceps/triceps. Completed 3 cardio sessions. Mowed the lawn one day, and spent one morning waxing my car. Another productive week.

6/17/2007 – a disconnect this week. I only completed one weight lifting session, two cardio sessions, and mowed the lawn one day. I had to work late two evenings and this kind of blew up my schedule and motivation.

6/24/2007 – I completed two weightlifting session and two cardio sessions while I was out of town on business.

Cristie Kerr Wins U.S. Women' Open

Congratulations to Cristie Kerr who won the U.S. Women's Open today. Cristie is a real life example of how working out and eating right can positively benefit your life. In 1999, at 5'3", Cristie weighed 175 lbs, wore a size 14, and had back problems due to her weight. She hired a nutrionist and fitness trainer and transformed her body to 125 lbs and a size 4. Golf Digest has a very nice article about her from 2005. She is now considered one of the hottest golf babes in the LPGA. Cristie is a great humanitarian, she started Birdies for Breast Cancer to raise money for Breast Cancer Research.

Roid Rage?

Disturbing news that WWE Pro Wrestler Chris Benoit may have murdered his wife and son, then committed suicide. I am not ashamed to admit that I do watch and enjoy WWE Wresting as a 43 year old guy. Why? It is fun to watch, there are the universal characters of good versus bad, and the wrestlers are all in top physical condition. Sure most of it is scripted, but the wrestlers do have to be in great shape to pull off these stunts.

There is a cost and sacrifice that these wrestlers pay to succeed as a Pro Wrestler. Although that substantiated yet, it appears that steroid use may be the cause of this unfortunate incident.

I personally have never used steroids. However, I do know the challenges of keeping in shape as a 40 something year old guy. Benoit was 40 years old, same height as me, 5 ft 10 in. He weighed 220, and I weigh around 145. In my early 30's when I was probably in the best shape of my life I weighed 165. As a 43 year old, my body simply can not withstand the wear and tear to sustain a bodyweight of 165. Sure, I looked great back then, but I always seemed to have some type of nagging overuse injury. An example was my right elbow that had the tingly feeling "I hit my funny bone" most of the time.

I will not preach about steroid use. I just want to comment that maintaining a healthy body as you grow older does become more difficult. You have to work out smarter. My right elbow still tingles sometimes, but no where near the frequency when I was in my 30's.

Out of Sight

I am sorry that I have not kept you up to date by logging my workouts on my blog. Yes, I still do workout and Yes, I still do blog. It has been a busy few weeks, both at home and at work, since my last post. I will make it a goal to post at least once a week so you know that I am not Out of Sight. I have kept that goal for this week.

Apple Releases Safari Web Browser for Windows

Apple just released Safari Web Browser for Windows. Safari previously was only available for the MAC's, but is now available for Windows. Here is the press release. You can download Safari here. Apple claims that Safari is 2 times faster than Internet Explorer. I am usually not an early adopter, I prefer to wait for the bugs to be worked out, but I thought I would give Safari a try. While creating this post on Blogger, the "Save Now" and "Add Image" button did not work. I will tinker with Safari and let you know how I feel about it.

Weekly Workout Rewind - 5/27/2007

I mowed the lawn once, completed 3 cardio sessions, and 3 weightlifting sessions. I missed working out my back. It was a short week due to the Memorial Day weekend.

Weekly Workout Rewind - 5/20/2007

I mowed the lawn once, completed 3 cardio sessions, and 3 weightlifing sessions. I missed working out my chest. I spent one afternoon digging a 5 ft x 3 ft x 2 ft trench at one end of my storage shed. I lined the trench with poultry netting and 2 in x 3 in fenceing, and filled it with gravel. Groundhogs found a way to dig under my shed, so the fencing prevents them from fitting under the shed, and the gravel makes it more difficult to burrow under instead of soil.

100 Hits and Counting

For the first time in my blog's one year history, it has received over 100 Hits today. From Statcounter, as of 10:15PM today, my blog has 168 page loads and 119 unique visitors. So, what is the big event that triggered this? Today, is Rebecca Hower's last day on KDKA TV. The Pittsburgh Post Gazette originally reported this on March 6, 2007, and I added a post to my blog about this sad news the same day. Early this morning, I started receiving a number of hits from people Google'ing for info on Rebecca Hower. I have a feeling the news of her leaving was broadcast on the early AM newscast this morning. I am flattered to have received all the hits to my blog, but saddened that it was news that Rebecca Hower is leaving KDKA TV. She was liked by both female and male viewers. She was attractive, intelligent, professional, respected, and very personable. She was my favorite local female TV newscaster. I do not understand the fascination that a lot of male viewers had for Julie Bologna, Rececca Hower is so much more attractive, both outside and inside.

24 Season 6 Finale

What did you think of the Season Finale of 24 this year? I thought it was good and bad at the same time. On the plus side, most of the major characters have a happy ending. Chloe and Morris are going to have a baby, Bill and Karen get to retire peacefully without prosecution, etc. Except for Jack, who is left without Audrey, and seems to be cursed to be a CTU agent forever with no chance of ever having a meaningful relationship. On the bad side, there was really no cliffhanger to set up Season 7. Some critics say this season was not as good as previous years. Maybe it has not been, but 24 is still my favorite 24 show, with CSI (the original) a close second.

Weekly Workout Rewind - 5/13/2007

Last week I completed 4 cardio sessions and 4 weightlifting sessions. I missed working out one bodypart, my biceps. I also mowed the lawn once. My bodyweight dropped really low at the end of April, so I have been increasing my carbohydrate intake slowly to gain some weight back. I have gained my weight back, but my percent bodyfat has increased slightly and my water percentage has decreased slightly. I will have to watch my carb intake carefully.

Gardens By Grace

A personal friend of mine for almost 20 years has her own Internet business, Gardens By Grace. Her business sells teas and herbs to both individuals and businesses. Check it out.

Annual Pirates Game

Last night, I got together with two of my alumni buddies from Pitt for our annual Pirates game. We usually go in September, but Jim decided a few months ago to go last night for the Pie Traynor Coin Promotion. The weather was very warm, so it felt like September, but it was a little windy. The Pirates were their usual selves after 14 years, losing the game. On a positive note, the female Pirates fans were looking very cute in their summer attire, so it was a good night for watching the ladies.

On a sad note, I learned that Jim's father passed away on 5/4/2007. Jim's father was a big baseball fan, so it was a funny feeling attending this game. Jim usually picked a game based on the promotional give away, and the trinket always went to his father. This post is dedicated to Jim's father.

Weekly Workout Rewind - 5/6/2007

Last week, I had to go out of town to attend a training class. The class was officially verified on the Friday before, so I did not have a lot of advance notice. I made the best of it and chose a hotel that had an exercise room. I narrowed the hotel choice to two, and chose the hotel that had better pics on their website.

I managed two weightlifting workouts and two cardio sessions. Not bad for one week on the road. I also spent Saturday mowing the lawn and washing my car. It was an OK week, not spectacular, but OK.

Weekly Workout Rewind - 4/29/2007

Shame on me. I did not keep good records during this week, so I have no idea if it was a good or unproductive week. I only marked down mowing the lawn one day, one leg workout, and one cardio session.

Weekly Workout Rewind - 4/22/2007

I had an unproductive week. Only completed two cardio sessions and two weightlifting workouts. I worked my chest and back, but did not work my legs or arms. I really do not have a good reason why I missed so many workouts. Maybe I was just too tired and needed a break. Oh well, there are still plenty of weeks left in the year.

Blogger Happy Anniversary/Birthday

I missed my Blogger Anniversary/1st Birthday on 4/9/2007. Yes, I have been blogging for over a year now. Congratulations!

Weekly Workout Rewind - 4/15/2007

I completed 2 cardio sessions, 2 weightlifting sessions, mowed the lawn once, hand washed my car one day, and hand waxed my car another day. Hand washing and waxing works the shoulders and triceps. It was such a nice weekend to be outside and clean up my car.

Weekly Workout Rewind - 4/8/2007

I completed 3 cardio sessions, one weightlifting workout, and mowed the lawn once. I fell short with the weights, but my cardio was up. I have started to lose more bodyweight. For me, losing weight is not a good thing. My pants keep falling off of my hips and large size shirts look so baggy on me. I need to increase my calorie intake and lift smarter and stronger.

Where in the World Have I Been?

I apologize for not posting the last few weeks. Working in IT sometimes necessitates making changes after normal working hours. For the past three weeks, my company has implemented changes after business hours. A few times the changes have been rescheduled. Work has interfered with my workout schedule and just life in general. I will be catching up with my posts. Sorry for the delay.

Weekly Workout Rewind - 4/1/2007

I only completed one workout session while I was out of town on business. I used my Lifeline Portable Gym one day after work. Most evenings were spent documenting some work procedures while they were fresh in my mind.
I weighed myself on Easter Sunday and was glad to see that I had not gained any weight or bodyfat. My water percentage was also at a good level. Several nights of eating out at restaurants did not affect my body composition.
I am trying to get back into my regular workout and life routine this week. It is always a little difficult jumping back in the saddle.

Weekly Workout Rewind - 3/25/2007

I completed 3 of 4 weightlifting sessions (I missed one), and 3 cardio sessions. I also spent Saturday afternoon mowing the lawn for the first time this year. I was a busy week and I missed one workout session since I was trying to finish some tasks before my business trip.

My Taxes are Done

I took a day off of work yesterday to complete my taxes. I will be out of town on business the first week of April, so I wanted to get my taxes done before then. Mission accomplished. I feel a huge weight lifted off of my shoulders (and my mind).
So, how did I do? Local Taxes - taken out of my paycheck, no refund or payment. State Taxes - I owe. Federal Taxes - a nice refund. I may have to adjust the tax withholding on my paycheck. It is nice to get a refund, but I could be spending that money over an entire year rather than waiting for it in April.

Weekly Workout Rewind - 3/18/2007

I completed 4 weightlifing sessions and 4 cardio sessions. A good week. To complete my 4 day workout split, I have to work out two consecutive days in a row once a week. I usually work upper body on day 1, and legs on day 2. I was pretty wiped out after last week's consecutive days of working out. I have to do a better job of getting more sleep and/or naps on the two days that I decide to work out consecutively.

I am pleased with the results of my arm workouts. At this point, I am not putting bulk on my arms. Instead, the definition of my arms now looks better than it has in the past. So, my 4 day split seems to be working for my arms.

Curls for the Girls

You may have heard of the phrase "Curls for the Girls". It suggests that you should complete a lot of biceps curls to make your arms look bigger. Most people do not realize that the triceps muscles are responsible for almost two-thirds the size of the arm. So, if you really want your arms to look big, you should not work out your biceps in favor of the triceps. For an overall fitness program, you should work out all body parts.
Last Sunday was my "arm" workout day - biceps and triceps. For triceps, I increased the poundages and sets. For biceps, I just increased the sets. I sleep on my back, and as I was sleeping, I right elbow felt tingly - almost like I had bumped the funny bone on my elbow. I have had this sensation in the past, but a very long time ago. I believe the increase in sets for the biceps combined with a history of overuse injuries, resulted in my discomfort. I am really just trying to say that because of past injuries, I have to be careful when I work out my biceps. I may have to limit my biceps work, and work more on my triceps.

It is Tax Time

Yesterday, I finally decided to make a real effort to work on my income taxes. It was a cold day, the day after our hopefully last snowfall of the season, so it was a perfect day to stay inside and start on my taxes. I have always worked on my taxes myself, no paid preparer. And I have always done my taxes by hand, not electronically. I do gain a sense of personal satisfaction by completing my taxes by myself, by hand. Sure it may be old school, but I do understand everything I do.

It looks like I may be out of town on business the first week of April, so I would like to get my taxes completed before the end of March. I usually get a refund, but I still seem to wait until the last minute. It is hard to break tradition (actually procrastination).

After I got my first real job many moons ago, I could get away with filing the 1040EZ form. Well, things have changed since then. I have to itemize my deductions now because I am home owner (along with my mortgage company) and I actually invest my money versus spending money or not knowing how to invest money. So, how far did I get with my 2006 taxes? I completed Schedule B and stopped at line 13 on form 1040 and Schedule D. I can only work on my taxes for so long before I need a break. And this post is part of a much needed break.

Weekly Workout Rewind - 3/11/2007

I completed 3 weightlifting workouts (I missed working out my biceps and triceps), and 3 cardio sessions. My boss's boss was visiting Central Pennsylvania, so one day last week I had to get up early and get home late for a very long day trip. This essentially eliminated an available day for me to work out. Cutting down on my carbohydrate intake has actually made me lose more weight than I really wanted to. Most of my pants are falling off of me. It is nice to be thin, but I have actually lost a little too much weight. I am a so called "hard gainer". It is difficult for me to gain weight. I have to change my weightlifting sessions somehow: more reps, more poundages, different exercises, to shock my body and gain more muscle mass. I also have to do this without sustaining injury. I will see how this goes.

Weekly Workout Rewind - 3/4/2007

I completed 4 weightlifting sessions (worked all bodyparts) and 4 cardio sessions. It was a good week. My weight, body fat percentage, and water percentage have dropped back down to the levels they were before I took some time off to nurse my biceps tendinitis injury. I contribute the success to cutting out complex carbohydrates at dinner (like rice) and before bedtime (granola bars, pop tarts, etc).

KDKA TV Reporting Penguins Arena Deal Done

The 11:00PM newscast on KDKA TV Channel 2 is reporting that an Arena Deal with the Penguins is done. An announcement will be made before Tuesday's home game against the Buffalo Sabres. The meeting scheduled for Wednesday is still on, will take place in Pittsburgh, and will take care of crossing the T's and dotting the I's. Hopefully, KDKA's sources are correct about this.

Rebecca Hower Leaving KDKA

Update, 5/30/2007: Today was Rebecca Hower's last day on KDKA TV. It was announced this morning on the early news broadcast. Good Luck and Best Wishes to Rebecca Hower. KDKA TV posted a news item on their website about Rebecca's departure.

Today is a sad day in Western Pennsylvania. The Pittsburgh Post Gazette is reporting that KDKA Meteorologist Rebecca Hower is leaving on May 30. Her husband, a gastroenterologist, has accepted a job in her hometown of Erie.

Rebecca Hower is my favorite female local TV personality. She is the ultimate combination of beauty, brains, and personality. She looks fabulous, even after having two children. She stated she will be taking a year off from work to spend more time with her children.

I have a married female friend whose husband works, while she is a stay at home mother for their 3 year old daughter. My friend really cherishes the time she spends with her daughter. If you have the opportunity and finances to be a stay at home mother, do so. It is precious time that only happens once.

Yes, I am sad that Rebecca Hower is leaving. But I am happy that she will be able to spend more time with her children.

Weekly Workout Rewind - 2/25/2007

I completed 4 cardio sessions and actually worked out all bodyparts over 7 days. I can not remember the last time I actually did this. It is very rare for me to hit all of my body parts because something usually comes up to alter my schedule.

I jumped on my body fat scale today after one week of reducing carbs before bedtime. I am happy to say that I am back to my weight, percent body fat, and percent water weight, before Christmas. Excellent! I am only eating yogurt and fruit before I go to bed. I have stopped eating Pop Tarts, Granola bars, Protein bars, etc before bedtime. I guess-timate that I am cutting my calorie intake by about 300 - 400 calories before bedtime, and it has made a big difference.

I am looking forward to Spring even though it seems like Winter is going to stick around for a few more days this week. With Spring coming up soon, I will not be wearing layers of clothes to cover up my body. Soon I will be wearing short sleeve shirts and shorts, exposing more of my bodyparts, so my workout ethic will become more focused.

Later.

Weekly Workout Rewind - 2/18/2007

I completed 4 cardio sessions, 3 weight lifting sessions, and shoveled the snow off my driveway one day. I missed working out my triceps and biceps, but no big deal. I am still trying to lose the 5 lbs that I gained over Christmas. I am working hard at limiting and changing my before bedtime snacks. I am eating less food and less complex carbohydrates before bedtime. I am trying to limit my bedtime snack to yogurt and fresh fruit. Time will tell.

10 Things I Like About Winter

Here are 10 things I like about Winter, in no particular order:
  1. When I get home from work, it is dark, so I do not feel guilty about taking a nap.

  2. Snow makes Christmas much more special.

  3. I do not have to mow the lawn.

  4. It is too cold to hand wash my car.

  5. I can gain some weight and hide it with a baggy sweatshirt.

  6. I like wearing boots instead of sneakers in the winter.

  7. I like wearing a beanie/skull cap in my cold basement when I workout.

  8. I can be late for work because of the weather.

  9. I can catch up watching my collection of DVD’s because I spend more time indoors.

  10. The Pittsburgh Penguins.

10 Things I Hate About Winter

Here are 10 Things I hate about winter, in no particular order:

  1. There are less hours of sunlight. I wake up in the dark, and leave work in the dark.
  2. I have to shovel snow.
  3. I have to drive in snow and ice.
  4. Waterproof boots are never waterproof.
  5. My car gets all salted up, and it is too cold to wash my baby.
  6. My basement is cold, my workout equipment is in the basement, so I workout in a cold basement.
  7. My head gets cold because I refuse to wear a hat which would ruin my hair.
  8. I have to wear layers of clothes to keep warm, then I feel too warm because I am wearing layers of clothes.
  9. My nose gets dry, so I get a lot of nosebleeds.
  10. My skin gets very dry, so my fingertips crack. Very painful.

Weekly Workout Rewind - 2/11/2007

I completed two cardio sessions and one weighlifting session. I had two "snow shoveling" workouts due to the snow storm last week. Shoveling snow involves both cardio and resistance training. Breathing in cold weather is more difficult than in warmer weather. I wore a full face fleece hood which covered my nose and mouth. This made it easier to breath. Snow shoveling works out a lot of bodyparts: legs, shoulders, back, biceps. When there is too much snow for me to physically handle, I bring out the snowblower. You have to be careful not to overdo it when shoveling snow. Take breaks, and know you limitations. It was not my normal workout routine, but it was still a workout.

Route 8 Snow Woes

In the winter, it is always an adventure trying to drive to work on Route 8 from Route 910 in Allegheny County to downtown Butler. The imaginary line between Allegheny County and Butler County is unmistakable. It is at Valencia, PA, on Route 8, around the Lakevue Athletic Club/Ice Connection Skating Rink. This morning, parts of Route 8 in Allegheny County were actually clear of snow. Of course, that changed when I passed the Allegheny/Butler County line.

The difference was more dramatic on my way home from work this evening. Route 8 in Butler County was still covered in snow. There were small stretches were the road was clear. There were tracks created by numerous vehicles driving over the same part of the road over and over. But, for the most part, Route 8 was snow covered from downtown Butler all the way to Valencia, PA. After passing the county line, Route 8 in Allegheny County hardly had any snow at all. You could even say Route 8 in Allegheny County was almost dry.

Here are my worse parts of Route 8 to drive in the winter:
1) The hill from the Country Kitchen to Kelly Chevrolet.
2) The hill from Kelly Chevrolet, passing AK Steel, to The Great Butler Mart.
3) The curvy part from The Great Butler Mart to Hansen Avenue.

Why is there such a difference between Allegheny and Butler County? Well, here a few excuses I came up with:
1) Butler County is more rural
2) Butler County gets more snow
3) Lack of resources – snow plows/trucks, salt, manpower
4) It has been so damn cold, no amount of salt can melt all of the snow

I do have a right to complain. My local municipality taxes my paycheck, but the City of Butler also takes a piece of my pie. I support Butler County by being a consumer – I buy clothes, food, gasoline, etc. in Butler County. I think Punxy Phil was seriously wrong.

Weekly Workout Rewind - 2/4/2007

I worked all body parts and completed 5 cardio sessions last week. My wrist still hurts from Dequervain's tendinitis. I do not like making doctor appointments in the winter. Why? It's cold, depressing, I do not need anything else on my mind to get me more depressed. I am also the usual stubborn male who puts off seeing the doctor.

Monday, February 05, 2007

Weekly Workout Rewind - 1/28/2007

I completed 4 cardio sessions and shoveled the snow off my driveway one day. I did not complete any weightlifting sessions as I rested my right wrist because of my flare up of Dequervain's tendinitis. It has almost been two weeks of rest, but the wrist did not get any better or any worse. I hate getting old.

Pittsburgh Political Blog Wars

If you have been keeping up with the news lately, you have undoubtedly heard about the Blog War between former KDKA radio talkshow host John McIntire and Pittsburgh City Councilman Jim Motznik. It is good to know that politicians are realizing the power of the blogosphere. However, you have to know how to use it. Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl has asked Jim Motznik to stop blogging because he does not believe the blogosphere is the right forum to discuss issues. John McIntire is a polished blogger, while Jim Motznik is really rough around the edges. I think Ravenstahl is more worried about the damage Motznik may do to his chances for the upcoming mayoral election. There were a ton of posts out there yesterday about this ongoing Blog War. It will be interesting to see how the blogosphere affects the election race for the mayor of Pittsburgh.

Weekly Workout Rewind - 1/21/2007

I completed one weight lifting session and three cardio sessions. Mid way through the week, I noticed that my right wrist was bothering me more than normal. Last Spring, I injured my right wrist when I fell and used my right hand to brace the fall. My doctor diagnosed it as DeQuervain's Tendinitis. I remembered the test that I completed to determine that it was DeQuervain's. The test is called the Finkelstein test. In this test, the patient makes a fist with the fingers over the thumb. The wrist is then bent in the direction of the little finger. This test can be quite painful for the person with deQuervain's tendinitis. Tenderness directly over the tendons on the thumb side of the wrist is the most common finding, however.

Well, I completed the test, and yes, I have DeQuervain's tendinitis, AGAIN. This discovery deflated my motivation to work out. I stopped lifting any upper body parts to rest my right wrist. I wore a wrist brace most of the weekend and wear it at night when I sleep. I am going to wait until the end of this week to see if there is any improvement. If not, I will have to see my doctor again.

I am pretty bummed out about my re-injury. Every time I seem to be making progress, I always seem to encounter a setback. Am I getting too old for this? Has 18 years of working out made my body more suseptible to injuries, or has it prevented my injuries from being worse? What came first, the chicken, or the egg?

Weekly Workout Rewind - 1/14/2007

I completed 4 weight lifting sessions and 4 cardio sessions. I was not able to work all body parts, I missed working my back. For the past 2 weeks, I have been using a 4 day split - 4 weight lifting sessions over one week. A 4 day split seems to be working better for me than a 3 day split. With a 4 day split, I have to be more responsible with my workouts. On a 3 day split, each workout became too long, and I took too many days off between workouts.

Here is my 4 day split:
Workout A - chest
Workout B - back
Workout C - quadriceps, hamstrings
Workout D - biceps, triceps

This was my 3 day split:
Workout A - chest, triceps
Workout B - back, biceps
Workout C - quadriceps, hamstrings.

For both 4 and 3 day splits, I would also complete a cardio sessions.
Abs were worked when I felt like fitting them in.
The key to any workout routine is not working the same bodyparts on consecutive days and allowing adequate rest between workouts.

Anyway, enough about my training philosopy. Good Night kidz!

Wax On, Wax Off

I have had a weird feeling in my right ear for the last few weeks that a big ball of earwax was just stuck there. I have inserted Q-Tips into my ear as far as I could safely do so. I have also tried to clear it out by staying in the shower a little longer in the morning. I have never, ever, had problems with earwax buildup. I finally decided to stop into the Wal Mar and buy a Ear Wax Removal Kit. The kit contained a bottle of 6% solution of carbamide peroxide and a bulb shaped ear syringe. The instructions said that the solution will start to foam after it contacts the earwax. It was the strangest sensation and lasted for over 10 minutes. I used the bulb shaped syringe to rinse the solution out of my ear with warm water. I did get a little worried because the foaming feeling seemed to last a long time. It seems to have worked though. I am glad I finally decided to do something about it.

Weekly Workout Rewind - 1/7/2007

I completed 4 cardio sessions and was able to work out all major body parts. The amount of weight I used for my biceps was very light, just to get my muscles used to the movement. Even though I completed the workouts that I wanted to do, half way through the week, I was really tired and had to take 2 full days off before my last workout of the week. With my increased physical activity, I need to get more sleep and rest. I saw my Dr. today, and my bicep is OK, but I am still going to ease into my biceps workouts.

  • Great storylines
  • Superb acting
  • It is addictive
  • The plot twists make it very suspenseful
  • Someone gets interrogated by Jack in his own special way
  • Jack gets interrogated by the bad guys
  • Jack is a tough guy, but a smart, resourceful tough guy
  • A main character is guaranteed to get knocked off at some point in the season, but you never know who
  • The female characters are babes

Enjoy

Weekly Workout Rewind - 12/30/2007

Last week was the final week of my 3 week restriction of not working out my upper body due to biceps tendonitis. I managed 4 cardio sessions and worked my abs one day. I finally decided to weigh myself Saturday, and found out that I had gained 4 lbs, my percent bodyfat had increased, and my water weight was low. My 3 week restriction over the holidays combined to make me gain weight. Too much food, too many sweets and desserts, and decreased physicaly activity all added up literally.

On Saturday, I used my NordicTrack ski machine for the first time in 3 weeks. Yesterday, I actually lifted weights for my chest for the first time in 3 weeks. I was getting very bored just riding my exercise bike and lifting my legs. I am looking forward to getting back into my regular workout routine.

CSI - My 2nd Favorite TV Show

CSI is my 2nd favorite TV Show behind my number 1 favorite TV Show '24'. Here are a couple reasons why:

1. My undergraduate degree is Chemical Engineering., so I have a strong affinity for anything related to science.

2. I like solving problems.

3. CSI Babes - the actresses are all babes.

I am referring to the original CSI TV series, not CSI Miami or CSI New York. I do enjoy watching the other CSI shows too. Each one is different in its own way. I particularly like David Caruso's performance on CSI Miami.

Anyway, time for Mr. Science to sign off now.
